He has lost three straight, submitted by Daniel Marcos and out-pointed by Jean Matsumoto and Felipe Lima, and this featherweight bout is his first fight above bantamweight, where he built his 15-5 record. If the added weight lets him sit down on his shots longer, the resume edge should show; if it does not, the skid extends to four.
Case for Vazquez
Vazquez is 14-5-1 with five knockouts and three submissions among his wins, but his entire UFC sample is one fight — a unanimous-decision loss to Javid Basharat on short notice this February. In that fight he landed 1.60 significant strikes per minute against 3.93 absorbed and attempted no takedowns of his own, numbers that could reflect the opponent as much as the fighter. A cleaner performance here would say more about what Vazquez is inside the Octagon than his debut could.
