The Read
Style, strengths, and defining traits.
Merab Dvalishvili is the division's pace tyrant: chain wrestling, nonstop scrambling and a gas tank that turns three rounds into survival drills and five rounds into attrition fights.
The title run was built on exactly that pressure. He took Sean O'Malley's belt, defended it against Umar Nurmagomedov, O'Malley again and Cory Sandhagen, then finally lost it to Petr Yan in late 2025. Even after the belt change, the résumé still reads like one of the strongest bantamweight runs of the era.
