Opponent: Kyle Daukaus, their record after the fight: 9-1-0unanimousR3 5:00
UFC on ESPN 12: Poirier vs Hooker
27 Jun 2020

Daukaus stepped in on short notice to replace Ian Heinisch for his UFC debut and ran into a buzzsaw. Allen dropped him with a knee early, then kept him grounded and opened cuts with ground-and-pound. Daukaus showed heart — nearly landing a choke in the third and busting Allen's eye — but Allen's consistent pressure was enough for a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27).

Key moments

  • Stepped in as a late injury replacement for Ian Heinisch, making his UFC debut at 9-0.
  • Allen dropped him with a knee approximately one minute into the fight.
  • Daukaus fought back in round three, nearly locking up a choke and cutting Allen around the eye.
  • Lost the unanimous decision — a competitive debut against a physically superior opponent on no notice.

Opponent: Kevin Holland, their record after the fight: 16-5-0rear-naked chokeR2 3:38
UFC on ESPN 6: Reyes vs Weidman
18 Oct 2019

Allen grounded Holland often enough to turn a competitive fight into a submission win in Boston. The loss mattered because it was another early example of the kind of grappling pressure that could pull Holland away from his preferred striking rhythm.

Key moments

  • Allen steadily turned the fight toward grappling rather than long striking exchanges.
  • The rear-naked choke ended the bout at 3:38 of round two.
  • It was Holland's second UFC loss in his first five appearances with the promotion.
  • The matchup foreshadowed the kind of stylistic problems strong top-position fighters could cause him.
