3:00Round 1
The opener was measured while Holloway read Pettis' kicks and counters. Pettis had creative looks and late grappling attempts, but Holloway began finding the cleaner boxing entries as the round developed. By the end of the first, Holloway's pressure was starting to narrow Pettis' exits.
9:30Round 2
Holloway's volume became more reliable in the second. He mixed body shots, clinch pressure and head punches while Pettis' right hand became an issue between rounds. Pettis still had flashes, but Holloway was taking over the rhythm and making the fight more physical.
15:37Round 3
The finish came from accumulation. Holloway kept Pettis defending in the clinch and along the fence, then attacked the body until Pettis could no longer answer. The stoppage at 4:50 of round three made Holloway the interim featherweight champion and the first fighter to stop Pettis with strikes.
