Alex Pereira
Vitals
The Read
Pereira is one of the most dangerous strikers in the sport, a former two-division Glory kickboxing champion whose left hook and calf kicks have finished elite light heavyweights in droves — 11 of his 13 wins come by KO or TKO. He fights at a deliberate, patient pace from an orthodox stance, using a long jab, feints and leg kicks to compromise an opponent's base before unloading single, fight-ending counters. His takedown defense has improved sharply for a man who came to MMA with almost no wrestling, and his right hand and high kick give him two more finishing routes than most pure boxers carry.
The open questions are size and grappling against a true heavyweight. His one clear off-night came at UFC 313, where Magomed Ankalaev out-pointed him over five rounds by smothering him in the clinch and denying him space — proof that a measured, control-heavy approach can blunt his power. Moving up to heavyweight he gives away real mass to Gane, a rangy mover with the footwork to make him chase, which raises durability and cardio questions if the fight reaches deep water. His answer, as ever, is that he only needs one clean shot to land.
